Infographics and Motion Graphics
This project aims to educate women, particularly those from low socio-economic classes in Egypt, about their legal rights through two animated infographic videos. These videos serve as an awareness campaign designed to overcome obstacles such as illiteracy and cultural barriers, which often prevent women from understanding and claiming their rights. The campaign focuses on delivering critical information in a simple, accessible, and engaging manner, ensuring that even those with limited literacy can comprehend and benefit from the content.
Despite decades of progress by women’s rights activists globally, women continue to face violations of their rights, including in Egypt, where gender inequality remains a significant issue. In 2011, Egypt ranked 126th out of 148 countries on the United Nations Development Programme’s Gender Inequality Index. Many Egyptian women are not fully aware of their rights due to illiteracy, lack of legal awareness, and cultural practices that perpetuate inequality. While Egyptian law grants women numerous rights—including education, equal pay, freedom from violence, and reproductive rights—these rights are often not realized in practice.
To bridge this gap, education and awareness are key.
1. Research & Analysis:
Conducted research on women’s rights under Egyptian law and identified the most critical rights that need awareness.
Analyzed the socio-economic and cultural context of the target audience, focusing on challenges such as illiteracy and societal norms.
2. Concept Development:
Developed the concept of animated infographics as an effective medium to reach women with varying literacy levels.
Created storyboards and scripts that simplified complex legal information into easy-to-understand visuals and voiceovers.
3. Design & Animation:
Designed infographics with clear, bold visuals and minimal text to accommodate low literacy levels.
Animated the visuals to maintain engagement and reinforce the messaging through motion and storytelling.
4. Audio & Voiceover:
Produced voiceovers in Egyptian Arabic with a clear and empathetic tone.
Avoided complex legal jargon, opting instead for simple language and examples that reflect everyday situations.
5. Testing & Feedback:
Shared prototypes with a small group of women from the target demographic to gather feedback.
Made adjustments based on insights, such as refining the pace of the animation and clarifying certain messages.
6. Implementation & Distribution:
Launched the videos through community centers, social media, and organizations that work with low-income women.
Partnered with NGOs to integrate the videos into educational workshops and outreach programs.
